The Voice

The Voice

I have so many TV shows backed-up on my planner at the moment.  This is a good thing because it means I have been out having a life instead of slumped on the sofa slurping wine.

It also means that some of my favourite shows are back –  The Good Wife, True Blood, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries (do not judge me until you have seen it!), House and Glee.

I’ve also been recording White Heat and Touch and will hopefully get round to watching them too at some point.

So, we finally managed to catch up on the first of The Voice  blind audition shows last night.

My initial thoughts (for what they are worth):

– I quite liked the line-up of judges – all credible artists, and maybe I am showing my age a bit here, but Tom Jones – LEGEND.

– I did not appreciate before quite how dreamy Danny O’Donoghue is.  I might think about adding him to my laminate along with Vampire Eric, Bradley Cooper and Sawyer from LOST.

– I liked how all the artists who were invited to audition, could actually sing.  Every single one of them would have made it through to Boot Camp stage, at least, if they’d gone on the X-Factor.

– I loved the guy who performed the Lose Yourself mash-up.  Although, did anyone else think it was a bit weird that his girlfriend also threw her hat into the audition ring without telling anyone?

– Couldn’t understand why so many of them wanted to work with Jessie J.  Don’t get me wrong, I think she is FAB and I love her album but Tom Jones people.  It’s TOM JONES!

“Who would you have gone with?” I asked the Greek God(zilla), who claims to hate these shows yet was still watching.

“It depends” he replied.  “Who am I?”

“You are Sting” I said.

“Probably will.i.am, then” he decided.

“Ask me! Ask me!” I LOVED this new game.

“No, love”

“OK, I am Adele and I will go with Tom Jones” I played along anyway.

“I’m going to bed now, love” was all he said and he was off.

Spoilsport.

He got to be Sting and I still wanted to be Madonna (Tom Jones), Aretha (Tom Jones) and Dolly (Tom Jones).

So, for a bit of Friday fun and because I really really like this game:

If you were auditioning for The Voice, which kind of artist would you be and who would you want to work with?

Love this. I actually really admired The Voice-brings real value to the taxpayer’s money and not just saying that because I work for the Beeb. Loved how it was lo fi-with no sob stories, or ‘crazy, let’s all laugh at people who can’t sing and feel better about ourselves nonsense’ and you hit the nail on the head when you said the judges are all credible, worthy artists that deem our attention.

OK loving your game-so I’m Kylie and it’s got to be…. Tom Jones. He’s still so hawt right and that story about Elvis-wow! I’ve actually worked with Macy Gray so wasn’t that impressed with Jessie J’s story about collaborating with her! My ‘showbiz life eh’. Great post as ever!

Def watch Touch – I wasn’t that enticed by it but was hooked halfway through the first episode 🙂

I’m too tired to think hard enough to play the game!

So, firstly, it will probably come as no surprise (because essentially it seems we are the same person living parallel lives) that my favourite TV programmes stored up on V+ are: The Good Wife, True Blood, Grey’s Anatomy – although I haven’t ever gotten into Glee or House, nor Gossip Girl, but that’s only because I’m too busy also watching 24, Touch (like it), and assorted others. Also, along with Eric, I also have Sawyer and Bradley C on my short list and am quite liking Danny – although am annoyed with how on The Voice he keeps wanting the endorsement of the other judges before pushing his button for someone. Annoying.

Anyway, onto The Voice – I’m liking it, I must say. At first, I missed the sh*t people that usually populate the early weeks of these programmes, but actually I have gotten over that now and am actually really enjoying it. Am particularly loving Will.i.Am (is he gay?!) who is coming across as sweet and charming and surprising down to earth – particularly this week, when he said “my mum is my driving force behind everything I do” (definitely gay!?!) – I do love a boy that loves his mum!

So, playing your game… I’m Amy (Winehouse) – pre 2011 – and I pick Will!
Wait, wait, wait… actually, I’m Dusty, and I pick Tom.
Ooooh, actually… I’m Lady Gaga, and I pick Jessie.
No, I’m Amy. No, I’m Dusty…. No, Amy.

Basically, I don’t pick Danny, no matter who I am!

Is he gay??? I had not heard that. He is super sweet and I am liking him more and more.
Fun game, next week I might turn my chair around and judge it blind like the judges x

I love The Voice! So much better than The X Factor. I need to catch up as I didn’t get back in time to watch it yesterday. Did you enjoy the STc conference? I saw you but didn’t get a chance to say hi! X
