The Voice – Double Denim?

The Voice – Double Denim?

I have been telling the Greek God(zilla) FOR YEARS that the double denim look is not a good one.

A couple of weeks ago, a cool and trendy friend of ours disagreed and said that actually, denim on denim is back and cool again.

Watching The Voice for the past few weeks, it would appear that she was right.

Danny O’Donoghue has been sporting a denim jacket with jeans ensemble week on week and as a rock/pop star on prime time Saturday night TV, I’m sure someone is paid very well to make sure he looks the part.

But Jessie J soared right up in my estimations last night, when she joked that you should never trust a man wearing denim on denim.  HA!  I knew it.

So, thank you Jessie J.  As probably one of the coolest and trendiest people “right now”, your opinion trumps that of the Greek God(zilla) and Danny’s stylist every time.

A thought aside – does anyone know why the judges are wearing the same outfits in every show?  Is it for editing purposes or did all the auditions happen over the course of one day (surely not)?

So, the third week of The Voice saw will.i.am up his game a bit and secure 4 more artists for his team.   I was not sure of Tyler James at first because of how his whole back story focused on his friendship with Amy Winehouse, but I was relieved when he came out on stage and:

a. could sing
b. did not sing an Amy song (cringe)
c. did not mention the Amy connection to the judges

I hope he was one of the good people in her life.

Danny is struggling, I think.  Last night he added Bo Bruce to his team.  She’s ok.  She has a nice voice and reminded me a bit of The Cranberries.  I think she ended up with the right person although quiet word to Bo – posh folk should not say ‘wicked’.

#just saying…

Sir Tom Jones is a legend and still my favourite judge.  Leanne Mitchell belted out If I Was as Boy last night and joined the other big voices on Team Tom.

I’m not sure if any of them really stand out enough for me to pick a winner at this stage, but I’m looking forward with interest to see how the final week of Blind auditions unfolds and then let The Battles commence.

It’s so exciting!

But first, and more importantly:

Double Denim – yes or no?

Double Denim = double No No!! I have also said it for years, it is so not a good look and when Jessie J remarked on the double denim combo last night, she also shot up in my estimation too, ha! We need Courtney’s view on this issue…

My observations on last night’s episode….
    1) loving loving loving Will.i.am – I would so pick him, Tom Jones yes legend, but it’s all about Will for me
    2) I made the same remark about Bo sounding like Delores from the Cranberries (this is not a good thing in my book)
    3) you’re right, posh people should so not say wicked
    4) Amy Wino’s mate with the big hair and the razor sharp cheekbones – not bad, not awesome, but could have potential
    5) why is it that the judges are wearing the same clothes each week?!? – takes the fun out of things a bit, also am bit fed up with seeing Jessie in that shirt/long purple hair combo
    6) the “rock god” – weird, looked like Vincent from 90s TV drama Beauty & the Beast….

Yes good idea! I am going to consult with Courtney on this.
will.i.am is the new eye candy of The Voice, I think! There is definitely something about him and he is growing on me more and more each week. Last week I was all Tom Tom Tom but I have to say I’m feeling a bit torn now.
We didn’t like The Cranberries connection either but her and Danny are suited. I hope he tells her never to say wicked again 🙂
Oh yes, the karaoke rock god!!! I was so relieved when no-one turned around for him – weird weird weird.
Love that you are watching this with the same element of seriousness as I am 🙂

Hahaha, yes I know what you mean! But, I am letting it go for now as still undecided if it passes for stage attire…?

Its a no here too for denim on denim and especially on a man!!!

Am not feeling Danny at all.. He turns round for everyone and pulls his awful dancing face..

I am all for will.i.am and would so pick him! No question… Even despite his association with Cheryl Cole!!!!

Glad you agree Vic! Now, can you convince Pam later please?
Will.i.am is becoming the new eye candy of the show for sure. Forgot about Cheryl Cole association 🙂

Hello ladies!!! A very interesting fashion dilemma to wake up to on my sunny Sunday morning 🙂 And I have to say I disagree with all of you….except the Greek God(zilla).

I am a huge fan of denim on denim and wear it myself all the time. The key is to wear complimenting denims and generally of a slim fit nature. This is tough for people who don’t understand the various washes, textures and styles of denim therefore I don’t suggest trying it on your own the first time…seek consultation.

Personally I prefer naturally faded denims together, or a faded denim with a super dark denim. The key is the colours have to be slightly off or totally off and not look too “clean”. A rugged denim on denim look is the way to go! If you wear all the same colour denim that is where the NO! NO! NO! comes into play. When done right is it so effortlessly cool and easy to wear.

I will post a few of my faves on Twitter and love to hear your thoughts.

    Happy Easter xo

I am sure you look amazeballs in double denim Courtenay because I am sure you can wear a bin bag and still look HOT but I’m just not getting it at all!
I will post a pic of the Greek Godzilla in his double denim ensemble and you can tell me if he is getting it right or wrong.

As someone who is NOT trendy but who works with lots of amazingly on-trend ladies, my take on Double Denim is this: seriously cool people can pull it off, but most of us look like Bon Jovi loving 80s throwbacks.

Sadly, Danny probably isn’t cool enough to make the look work. Gutted that he has to wear that outfit for all of the auditions!
