No more wine-ing

No more wine-ing

My husband, the Greek God(zilla), and I have decided to live for a week without alcohol.  No beer, no wine (not even rosé) and absolutely no cheeky V&Ts in the garden, no matter how sunny it is.  Not even if St.Murphy pops over.  Not even if Rob1 or BB and Rob2 come to stay.  Not even if AFC Wimbledon beat Luton on Saturday.

No excuses.  It’s going to be just the two of us, sharing our evenings together in our natural state for 7 whole days.  How wonderful…

So, I have cleverly devised a programme of alcohol replacement activities for us to help pass the time:

1. go to bed at 8pm

2. watch the In Treatment box set we got for Christmas

3. watch the Mad Men box set that I bought us for Christmas (seriously, when did I think we’d find the time…)

4. take it in turns to go the gym/pool/cinema

5. iron the pile of clothes currently stacked up in a heap on the bedroom floor

6. learn to make cheese souffle

7. try to match up all odd socks into pairs

8. work out how to use the new food mixer I got for Christmas

9. work out how to use the video camera we got when Zachy was born

10. work out how to use the back up hard drive we bought for our Macbook in 2007

11. vacuum the car

12. organise our family photos into albums

13. de-clutter Zachy’s toy box(es)

14. ask hubby to teach me how to speak Greek

15. ask YiaYia to teach us both how to speak Greek properly

16. walk the short way home from the park  (i.e not via The Herne Tavern) on Saturday afternoon

17. start provocative threads on the East Dulwich forum about the amount of dog poo littering our streets/local house prices/school catchment areas

18. play shoot shag marry during an episode of Eastenders

19. discuss the series finale of LOST (again)… was it good/wasn’t it… who knows!  Do we even care anymore… (YES)

20.  start an official search of the house for a. my ray bans  b. my watch  c. hubby’s Wisden Cricketer

What a sobering thought!  I’ll give it until Tuesday.

Surely wine counts towards one of your 5-a-day anyway…

I’ve literally made the opposite decision, and have been sober probably for only a few hours since Monday.

God that list has got me bringing forward wine-o-clock already! Sounds like purgatory. When you’ve done the box set of Mad Men maybe you could give me a synopsis because I still haven’t got the cellophane off the one I got for Christmas. And as for the ironing pile….
Come to think of it perhaps I’ll open the wine now 😉

Have not managed to tick off one thing on the list yet! Think box sets will still be there in their cellophane this Christmas too! Mother in law came over today and did the ironing though, result!!

Great list of alternatives!! I don’t drink at all and spend most of my time either online or watching telly. But right now, I could just manage a nice cold beer.
