My favourite place for lunch in Naxos is easily the Cedar Cafe in Plaka. It has a very chilled, relaxed vibe and is set just off the beach, underneath cedar trees where hammocks gently sway!
The beers are BIG, the rosé is refreshing and the chips are absolutely cracking! It is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

I ordered the tuna salad at Cedar Cafe every time because it is just so good! I didn’t ask for the recipe, but I have been experimenting a bit since we got home and I think I have created a version that is pretty close! You can use any salad ingredients you have in your fridge, but don’t skip the dill because it’s what really holds this delicious salad together!
Ingredients
- Mixture of salad leaves
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- Cucumber, quartered
- 6 cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 tbsp dill
- 1 can of tuna chunks
- 1/2 a lemon
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- pinch of salt
Optional
- Peppers
- Avocado
- Celery
- Any other salad item you wish!
Method
Wash and assemble your salad leaves into a bowl.
Add red onion, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and dill (plus any other salad ingredients you are using).
Season with salt.
Put your drained tuna in a separate bowl and give it a good squeeze of lemon juice.
Add a teaspoon of mayonnaise to the tuna and mix with a fork.
Add the tuna and mayo mix to your bowl with the rest of your salad ingredients and combine well so that the leaves are well covered.
Finish with a big dollop of mayonnaise on top!
Eat and enjoy!
