I spoke too soon.
The morning nap is back.
I repeat, the morning nap IS back.
It was Zachy’s nanny who first started to notice some behaviour differences in Zachy since dropping his morning nap, that made us think that maybe the morning nap wasn’t quite ready to be dropped, just yet… by some differences, I mean he turned from our sweet little angel child into a stark raving loony.
Although our morning walks in the park were lovely, he was absolutely shattered by 12pm and could barely keep his eyes open through his favourite activity of the day – lunch.
He started to throw food on the floor, and when one of us would try to calm him down, he would lash out with his gorgeous chubby little fists. Sleep deprivation was obviously driving him a little bit doolally. I remember that feeling only too well, little man. Only too well…
Eventually, we’d give up on lunch all together and put him to bed. His whole schedule was disrupted and it was ALL MY fault… and didn’t he let me know about it!
So, after just 2 weeks, the morning nap is back. We have cut it down to 30 mins, more of a power nap really, just to keep him going until lunch. He still has a long lunchtime nap and is much less moody in the afternoons.
Phew. Glad we’ve got that all sorted then.

Had a bit of a shock with the second picture – the desired effect, I’d imagine.

‘Disco’ naps are the way forward – I still try to get one in myself every day! Love that first photo – that would brighten up morning for sure x
