I have been pushed out of my own bed.
Well, not pushed exactly – there was no actual physical force used.
Although, as soon as a little person crawls into the bed beside you, you know your day has already begun.
So here I am, drinking tea and blogging at the kitchen table while the Greek God(zilla) gets his full 8-hours on upstairs and Zachy snoozes happily next to him on my side of the bed.
It would actually be quite sweet if I wasn’t so tired.
I’ve been up and down all night. The first time was to answer the call for water. The second was because he was cold.
Then the Greek God(zilla) returned home from dinner with a friend and wanted to chat.
Then he was back and forth to the bathroom, switching lights on and off, flushing the loo and re-arranging the bed pillows.
Just as I finally think I drifted back off to sleep, I heard Zachy whimpering in his bedroom and then felt the Greek God(zilla)’s arm on mine, gently shaking me awake to go in and check on our son in the room next door.
I was too tired to do anything other than take him (& Bear) back to our bed and pop them in the middle of us, safe and warm.
Except he is a bit of a fidget.
Limbs were being flung everywhere, arms landed on my face and legs bounced off my chest.
The duvet cover was kicked off in protest as he tossed and turned and tried to make himself comfortable.
I snuggled in closer, trying to stay warm.
‘Stop it you’re squashing me’
So I inched towards the edge a bit more to make room and balanced half on/half off the bed until finally in slow motion, I toppled off.
All the while, the Greek God(zilla) slept on blissfully unaware.
So I have come downstairs and left them to it.
It is quite nice to drink a cup of tea and read my emails in peace. Even if it does still feel like the middle of the night.
I can hear stirrings upstairs now. The Greek God(zilla) is trying to cuddle Zachy but he is resisting.
They will both be up soon and there will be drinks to make, people to dress and teeth to clean.
Requests for the loo, orange juice and TV are already starting to be made.
But right now, I am letting the Greek God(zilla) deal with it, pretending not to hear and blogging on blissfully unaware 😉
