Lub You

Lub You

I can’t believe how much of a chatterbox my 2½ year old son has become of late.

It seems like only yesterday he was still my baby, whose vocabulary was limited to ‘Mummy’, ‘Daddy’, ‘Uh-Oh’ and ‘NO!’.

Now he understands EVERYTHING I say to him and to prove this, he regularly repeats my sentences back to me with alarming accuracy.  Plus, he has an opinion on EVERYTHING and an answer for EVERYTHING.

I am amazed by how well he is able to communicate with us.  Now, I am not saying he is a child genius or anything (although, of course he is) but the way he is so quick to retort and can argue his point in actual sentences (usually why he feels he SHOULD be allowed another chocolate biscuit) is in my eyes, quite remarkable.

There are obviously some words he finds easier than others.

He has no problem reciting every word of Owl Babies, or reeling off the names of every character in Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom for example.

Likewise, he can be understood quite clearly when he states “I don’t want to do that Mummy” if I ask him to get dressed/brush his teeth/brush his hair and “I am going to play with my cars for a little bit longer, Mummy” when I ask him to sit down for lunch.

But, he’ll say feefee when he means smoothie, and brown when what he actually wants is a brownie.  He gets in a muddle trying to pronounce blueberries (broobrees) and bath (borth).

I know that in time and with a bit more practice, his vocabulary will grow and he will become much more articulate.

However, there is one thing he says that I hope he never grows out of.  It is quite the sweetest thing I have ever heard.

I must tell him that I love him about 497 times a day, but he only ever responds to me at night, when he is tucked up all warm & cosy in bed.

As I finish reading his bedtime stories, I kiss the top of his head and say “Goodnight, love you” to which he always sleepily responds  “Goodnight Mummy, Lub you”.

LUB YOU!

I lub it.

What things do your kids say that you Lub?

Haha, Lubely! Yes it so cute, I must try and capture in on video so I can always watch it (and embarrass him when he is a teenager)

Littlest turned three the day after the conference – hence my early departure from the pub and my eldest (two boys) is nearly seven. They. will. be. the. death. of. me. Remember? 😉

Isn’t it wonderful they can fully communicate with us now! Does he speak any Greek? My folks only speak Greek to my little man and he was actually teaching my husband Greek the other day…all good prep for forthcoming Saturday Greek School x
