Telly Addict

The only TV show I watch when it is actually broadcast, is Eastenders.  Everything else that I am interested in watching is cleverly saved onto my SKY planner and then when I find time to sit in front of the telly, I’ll watch one of my recorded shows.

Imagine my horror then, when I viewed my list today and saw that the only thing I have left on series link for next week is In the Night Garden.

All of my favourite shows have reached their season finale AND some of them won’t be back on our screens until NEXT YEAR!  I feel completely blindsided and so unprepared for this forced TV detox.

I can’t keep track of what episode I am up to in a TV series (I have enough trouble keeping track of time these days) so I do rely on the scriptwriters to provide a strong storyline, which builds up for a few epsiodes, with a bit of tension between a couple of key characters thrown in, all of which indicates to me that the conclusion of the season is near (think LOST).

It is only then that I can even think about throwing a finale party, realise I am too old for actual parties now (even TV ones), consider joining a twitter party instead but remember that as I can barely keep my eyes open past 9pm these days, I tend to catch-up on episodes, even the final ones, during Zachy’s nap time or when he is helping daddy water the garden.

Let’s look at Grey’s Anatomy, for example.  Where was the cliffhanger?  Was it that Christina scheduled an abortion (as she did in season 1) or that Meredith and Derek are living apart.  Again.  (seasons 1-4).  Surely not that McSteamy ‘gave’ Little Grey to Avery…?  Such a disappointing finale.  Certainly won’t be googling for season 9 spoilers any time soon.

I will, however, be googling more of McSteamy

House.  Back on the Vicodin.  Quelle surprise.

The Vampire Diaries.  Yes, I watch this.  No, I am not a teenager.  Yes, I am a bit embarrassed.  This show is beyond ridiculous but every epsiode ends on a cliffhanger and it keeps me tuning back in week after week.  That, and Damon Salvatore.  It’s all about Damon.

Look into my eyes and I will compel you

The season finale did not disappoint in that respect, although it was verging a little too much on the ridiculous, even for me.  I was really pissed off when it ended and not because I was sad it was over, but because the final scene of this brilliant show took a turn into just plain stupid now territory.  Also, Stefan Salvatore is the most unbelievable vampire serial killer, like, ever.  Happy that Damon survived the bite of the werewolf after drinking the blood of an orignal though.

The Good Wife was much better.  This one, I was more prepared for and I loved the finale.  This is what they have been building up to for two seasons now – take note, Grey’s writers.

About time, people!

This last season of Gossip Girl seemed like 3 seasons aired back to back, there were so many twists and turns and new developments.  But, at the end (and I thought we’d never get there), Blair is off to Monaco for the summer with her Prince as they plan their Royal wedding.  A real spanner in the works will be if the positive pregnancy test that Doroda found in the trash, is the indication of a little Blair baby on the way and if so, is it the seed of Chuck or the Prince?  I refuse to believe that Chuck will really let her go either way.  However, much like the McSteamy/Little Grey affair, I am bored of the will they/won’t they scenario and wish them both all the very best with their new loves.  However boring they may be.

I’ll keep watching only until the fashion and sleek hairstyles stop inspiring me to make more of an effort when I leave the house.

hair envy

There are two finale shows on this week too, Glee & Brothers & Sisters.  I really only record Glee for Zachy, so I will have to break it to him gently that it won’t be back on for a while.  Or, buy him the boxset.

Brothers & Sisters, I can live without.  It’s just a filler.

Now, I am wondering what I will do on a Saturday afternoon while Zachy naps other than watch reruns of Property Ladder or Aussie Come Dine with Me.

Watch new episodes of Dexter obviously!  It’s back this Friday and I can’t wait.  Also, heard a rumour that True Blood might be back again soon, so I’m not quite in Private Practice* territory yet.

*Private Practice is a show I watch, that I really don’t enjoy much but will turn to it in moments of extreme boredom

What will you be watching this summer?

True blood starts this summer!! Have you seen the ‘waiting sucks’ promotions for it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sys-Wn3nlU&feature=related – my favourite of course.

I am literally in the same position. All my shows have finished until at least autumn. Rather embarrassingly I am going to be watching the new series of Torchwood when it airs in July as well. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

But seriously Sarah, Fringe, Fringe is such a good show and it really sucks you in! Its up to the end of season 3 right now, but you can definitely catch up online!

LOVE IT! Can’t wait for True Blood – Eric is my favourite! Fringe… maybe I will give that a go. It’s a sad state of affairs when we realise how much we rely on TV isn’t it!! xx

Oh you make me laugh! Matt and I had this same conversation last week – all our shows have finished and now each night when Sadie has gone to bed we look at each other and realise there’s nothing on TV and we’ll have to talk! LOL! I’ve found a new love though – watching shows on the computer. Go to Channelcut and you can download all kinds of shows! I’m a reality TV junkie so watch all of those online! I also started buying Law & Order: SVU on DVD so we watch a few episodes of that each night. Mmmm maybe Matt and I need to get out more!

Brothers & Sisters is a filler? I’m shocked! It’s like one of my favourites of the entire list. I’d go as far as to say it’s compelling TV. I’m gutted each and every time a series comes to an end :0(

Can’t agree more about the Grey’s finale. Utter pants and such a let down. Felt like the writers were asleep for most of the season. Did you watch the first season of The Big C? Second season about to start here. Love Laura Linney.

Did you watch the first season of Luther on BBC 1. First episode of season 2 was last night. Love it.

    Love you

Haven’t seen Luther but did watch one episode of the Big C because I also love Laura Linney but couldn’t get into it. Maybe I should give it another go. Do have a few boxsets I can start too so not all hope is lost!

Grey’s finale was the biggest let down, I was actually quite cross at the end of it! Just really weak.

      xx
