Shizzle in Brizzle

Shizzle in Brizzle

We took Zachy to Bristol this weekend to visit his Godfather, MummyMummy* and his twin 8-year old Godbrothers.

I have written before about Zachy’s love for his Godfamily in the post Farewell Crete.

The boys are brilliant with Zachy and in return he hangs on to their every word, copies their every move and follows them relentlessly everywhere they go.

At the moment this does not appear to bother them the slightest bit, although I suspect it might become quite tedious if this blatant hero worshipping continues into their teens.

It was all kinds of awesome for all of (but certainly not limited to) the following reasons:

– eating jelly babies in the car on the drive down

– 8-year old twin boys are very good at entertaining a 2½ year old wannabe-8-year-old boy.

– MummyMummy was speed chilling two bottles of Prosecco in the freezer

– Roast duck

– Full English

– Roast chicken

– The Greek God(zilla) was on the Sunday morning early parenting shift

– Cricket in the park

– Zachy pooping his nappy while enjoying a ride on Daddy’s shoulders.  The look on the Greek God(zilla)’s face as the first whiff collided with his hangover was priceless “Get him off, love! Get him off!” Hahahahahaha

– MummyMummy is totally amazing. I want to be her when I grow up.

Zachy was reluctant to walk back home from the park.  Not because he had a big stinky poo in his nappy, as I swiftly took care of that on a park bench, but because he is a boy and it is easier to be carried.

But only by Mummy.

If the Greek God(zilla) tried to take him for a bit to relieve my weary arms, he’d scream and thrash about until he was back in my arms.  If I tried to make him walk for a bit because my arms felt like they were about to drop off, he threw himself on the floor in fury until I picked him back up again.

Luckily, I had back-up in the form of one of the older boys.  With one hand in mine and the other in his Godbrother’s, we walked home counting one, two… and lifting him into the air on three.  Then we sang the Alphabet song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and The Wheels on the Bus.

‘I don’t know any of these songs’ said Zachy’s Godbrother.  At the grand old age of eight, he had forgotten the lyrics to The Wheels on the Bus some years before.

‘OK, let’s sing a song you know’ I suggested.

He thought about it for a moment, took a deep breath and then…

Tonight I’m gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world it’s turning inside out Yeah!
I’m floating around in ecstasy
So don’t stop me now don’t stop me
‘Cause I’m having a good time having a good time

I’m a shooting star leaping through the skies
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I’m a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I’m gonna go go go
There’s no stopping me

I’m burning through the skies Yeah!
Two hundred degrees
That’s why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I’m trav’ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man of you

Don’t stop me now I’m having such a good time
I’m having a ball don’t stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Don’t stop me now (‘Cause I’m having a good time)
Don’t stop me now (Yes I’m having a good time)
I don’t want to stop at all

Works for me!

*MummyMummy is a nickname given by Zachy when we all holidayed together in Crete last year.  We think because she is a Mummy twice… he is very smart.  Anyway, it stuck.

I love this! My most relaxing times are when my little boy is playing with/being entertained by older children. Good times.

It really was so relaxing having someone else take the pressure off entertaining him solidly for a whole weekend! Just lovely, I sat down and drank tea and chatted while they got on with it… bliss!
