10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Over at Actually Mummy, I was tagged in her 10 things you didn’t know about me post, which means that I now have to tell you 10 things you didn’t know about me, so after much thinking and list-making and mind changing, here they are…

1. I have terrible taste in music
I ADORE Britney Spears.  I used to love Eminem too but grew tired of the constant bitchin’ about his wife/ex-wife – Dude, just stop marrying her!  I have never been much of a muso, I don’t do ‘gigs’ (shudder) and festivals are like a dirty word.  I have been to a few concerts (including Britney & Eminem, natch) but can’t really be bothered much with these either. Until a few weeks ago, I didn’t even know what kind of music I liked, but then I discovered jazz and now I think I might finally be getting the whole muso thing… maybe.  Lose Yourself  is still no.1 on both my gym and karaoke playlists.

2. I have my hair cut and coloured every 7-weeks
Without fail.  I have been seeing Emily at Partridges in East Dulwich every 7-weeks for about 4 years and I HEART her almost as much as I heart Britters.   I have hair appointments booked up to the end of the year.  Before Emily, there was Jen, but my move south-of-the-river and Jen’s day job in film, made it difficult to keep up the regular slots so sadly we had to part hair-ways.  Jen loves a bit of Britney too.

3. My dream job would be to appear in Eastenders
Only not as one of Ian Beale’s wives.  I would rather be an extra on the market stall or seen ordering a fake lager Shandy in the Queen Vic.  I think I would be best cast as a long-lost Slater sister or a cousin though.

4. I once trained in film continuity
My first paid continuity job was as a trainee to the script supervisor on a film called PURE where I spent  7-weeks standing outside in the freezing cold and the pouring rain watching (a then unknown) Keira Knightly play a teenage junkie.  After that, I decided I wanted to work a regular 9-5 office job instead and dress like Rachel in FRIENDS.  So, I got a job working for an ad agency where one of my early assignments was to chaperone James Brown (Loaded magazine) to the set of a TV commercial to interview Danny Baker and Peter Kay… where they made me stand outside their trailer in the freezing cold and the pouring rain.  Bastards.

5. The friends I love the most live the furthest away
One by one over the years, they have all upped and moved overseas.  I am slowly starting to build up a regular social circle again but few of my new friends know the pre-Zachy version of me.

6. I once caught a man doing a poo on our doorstep
He said he’d got caught short.  I closed the door and waited for him to finish.  When I had stopped dry retching, I opened the door again and he had gone.  He’d left a trail of soiled newspaper up our front path though, that he had pinched from the recycling bin and used to wipe himself.  The story made the local newspaper!  Although, I refused to be in the picture so as not to ever be pointed out to in the street as the poo lady.

7. I predicted Obama would be President back in Summer 2006
Everyone laughed at me.  We tell that story a lot now!

8. Wedding Fairy
I was known as the Wedding Fairy amongst my friends for many years as it was believed (& proven!) that if I was there with a friend when they met someone, they would later go on to marry them.  I was VERY popular to go out with back in those days.

9. I am a big fan of LOST
I totally ‘got’ it.  Didn’t you?!

10. I am a terrible drinker
It does not take much to get me drunk.  The dancing shoulder is the first give-away and then I turn into a complete bit of a show-off.  A popular drinking activity with My Mum Runs is the ‘interpret this song through the powerful medium of dance’ game. But usually, I just do hand stands.

Now I am tagging:

Richmond Mummy because in this blogging world we like to do everything bloggy together

St.Murphy because he will LOVE writing it PLUS he is global

More than Toast because I would like to know more about Alice

My Mum Runs because I am intrigued to find out how many of her 10 things I don’t already know

Lady Sadie’s Emporium because I know she will totally be up for this challenge

When you are done, leave me a link in the comments so I can read about you and then leave a link with the originator Me and my Kiddywinks

So come on then, tell me something I don’t already know about you…

Haha, yes he was quite a character too! He was caught on CCTV in the shop across the street buying a tinnie at 8am so no wonder he was caught short!
Can’t wait to read your 10 things, thanks for joining in! It’s really fun xx

OK – I am taking issue with point 5. There are plenty of stories I could spill the beans about pre-Zachy (but don’t worry, I won’t do it here!) and I only live down the road, give or take a mile. I could of course, arrange to move overseas if that would be easier – Sydney was on the agenda there for a while………..but I’d rather be here so our admittedly irregular ‘sessions can still take place when we both manage to escape The Husband. xxxxxx BTW – I had no idea about the film continuity thing!

Just so we are all clear, I took that photo os Smudge’s glamorous handstand circa 2001. She was high on life and vodka, and the photo was taken in the kitche. I mean where else would you be doing gymnastics drunk!

And Smudge, my tagged response will be on St. Murphy tomorrow.

    V. funny my darling. As I am a friend that moved away/wedding fairy benificiary/terrible drinker myself, then I supposed it’s only fitting that I carry on the blogging mantle. Just have to think of 10 things about me now. Pretty easy until I realised they have to not bore anyone to death. Oh well, back to the drawing board….. L x ps. you’re right about the music taste 😉 xxx

Hi! I just found you on BritMums. i’m new to blogging and after I’ve posted something new, i always try and read a couple of the new posts below mine. I read your post about the cat poo and flowers and it really made me laugh. Then I read this one and even though I don’t know you I laughed outright at the way you described finding the guy pooing on your doorstep. I will definitely stop by again! Cheers!
